Nell in hospital !

Nell’s just been very poorly having spent Friday & Saturday in Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, she suffered what we think was a severe nut allergy reaction but has to go back for tests to confirm this.  It’s a massive shock to us and we’re totally going to have to change the whole families eating habits.  Obviously at the moment training is the last thing on my mind but it has also made me more determined than ever to complete this ride for Nell, Erin and especially Helen who was brilliant this weekend.

Cycle surgery have very kindly offered to help us out on the ride, we’ve not sorted out specifics yet but they have said they will supply us with bike spares and energy stuff such as drinks & gels.  A massive thanks to Steve and all the team at the Wirral store, this will save us a lot of money which we were going to have to pay for out of our own pockets.

There’s no going back now, we’ve booked our accommodation for Whitehaven on the Friday night. We stayed there the last time we rode the C2C, it’s a really nice B&B and is close to the start (just 400m downhill).  Andrew the owner has even kindly agreed to a 5:50 a.m. breakfast for us so we won’t have to rely on a couple of mars bars and a can of coke! It’s called the Glenfield Guest House and there is a link to it in the Links section of the website.

A new date has been set for the ride, Saturday 4th June.  Slightly earlier than preferred but it will allow Helen, Nell and Erin to come up with me on the Friday to Whitehaven and also mum & dad (the support team) are on holiday around the longest day.

Well for the obvious reasons the ride was originally planned around the “longest day” next year (21st June) and we decided on Saturday 25th.  That is until mum & dad (the support vehicle) booked a holiday!

We’re going to have to sit down and work out a new date but I think I’ll wait till after xmas to do this.

Well after a couple of days of head scratching, cursing and much coffee drinking the blog is finally up and running!

I’ll be updating on a regular basis (probably weekly) with all sorts of updates, ranging from how my fundraising is doing to how my training is coming along.

I hope you find it interesting reading and remember, its not an exclusive ride. If anyone fancies joining me then they will be more than welcome.
